As a kid, I threw rocks in the pond just to see the concentric circles. I loved to watch and see how long it took for the surface to be still again. It gave me a sense that the results of my actions were minimal and shortlived. As a kid, this helped me to explore and try new things without too much concern over consequences.
Growing up I learned about physics, spirituality and the laws of nature. I now know that one rock changed that pond forever. Just because I could not see it, did not mean that the contours of the pond had not changed. I have also since learned the power of what I call the spiritual law of concentricity. Those small ripples I caused never really ended. The concentric circles got bigger in circumference and smaller in height (so small I could no longer see them), but they continued out to the edge of the pond and back in again. Along the way they danced with all the other ripples and were affected by and effected every plant, rock, fish, tadpole and beaver along the way.
Quantum physics rocked my world. I never even got past the first chapter of The Dancing Wu Li Masters. The idea that the observer significantly affects the outcome of any experiment sent very BIG ripples through my life and into my world. What we believe we'll see, we see. No longer able to deny my significance in the world. I froze. It felt like way too much responsiblity - affecting the world like that. Luckily I realized pretty quickly that taking no action was an action in itself. No matter what I did or didn't do, ripples were moving in the pond. I decided to do what I wanted with as much awareness as possible.
As a Council Member and decision maker for the Women of Wisdom Foundation (WOW) I know the importance of deep awareness and holding the intention of serving the needs of the community as they shift and change. The Council recently became aware of the need to reach out to women who may feel isolated by distance or other circumstances. We want to create ways to connect beyond our annual conference. We want to provide services to empower women throughout the year and across the globe.
As a Healer, I have learned to be adept at tracking the ripples of the actions we take. Studying these concentricities brings deeper awareness and a certain joy. It allows one to see both their own significance and to balance that with the deeper understanding of the dance of all the ripples in the pond.
2 months after helping make the decision to reach out and connect beyond our conference, I find myself 2500 miles away from Seattle and living in a fairly conservative area. No one on the Council missed this ripple. At times I feel very isolated. I am supported by the WOW community through emails, phone calls and enewsletters.
Before I had any inkling of moving, the Council talked about using blogging as a way to connect across time and distances. Now that I am here and have first hand knowledge of being isolated, I am a perfect candidate to monitor this blog.
I welcome you on behalf of the entire Women of Wisdom community to comment, connect and help empower us all. Throw in a pebble or a rock. Let's see where the ripples take us.

Hello to you Coleen,
I just finished reading and enjoying your article in the latest Women of Wisdom newsletter. I hadn't realized that you had moved to Ohio. Amazing...I was born and raised in Toledo. Life there certainly did and does present challenges to the forward thinker, but so does anywhere I suppose. It was also in Toledo Ohio that 45 years ago I was introduced and was subseqently immersed in the Coptic teachings of Master Hamid Bey and Kurt Stanley. Thom Hartman, who has written many books, but one of them, The Prophet's Way, chronicles his meeting of these two teachers and particulary that of Master Stanley. I share this with you and other readers to simply convey that this was going on in NW Ohio, Detroit, Indiana and Cleveland forty years ago and more. As a young college bound woman, the first thing I wanted to do was to "get out of Dodge". Now as an older woman, I have come to realize that the seeds of consciouness have been planted around the world, sometimes in obvious places, at other times, the seeds are cradled within the arms of a veil. Each providing their own unique quality of composting material! It is extraordinary how and when a seed chooses to sprout and by what means.I can truly say from my heart that NW Ohio is very fortunate to have a gardnener like you, to return and nurture, inspire, cajole and prompt all those potential blubs into bloom.Sometimes the tug on my heart is strong to return there myself because the pull to one's soil defies logic and reason.I am moved to tears to know that you are there teaching ways that undoubtedly would overlap with many of the things I would offer as well. I am not ready nor maybe even destined to return. So thank you Colleen, for being stronger than I, and for lightening the burden of this birds' heart by being there offering as you do. Perhaps in the great turning of the wheel we continue the work like a wonderous relay of light passing light, passing light, passing light. So I am here in Seattle singing a song to your soul from mine, carrying on with the work that has no beginning and no ending.

Alysia,
Thank You Alysia!
How timely your comments are. In one hour I am going to meet my first potential student. She is unexpected and I have been feeling quite uncertain about opening my teachings here. Thought I needed to do many things before getting to this point. I was even considering trying to postpone our work for another couple of months while I find just the right language to use here.
I too have found that this type of work is veiled here in NW Ohio. I have been looking for the key to move through it. Perhaps my presence and intention are the key afterall.
After reading your comments, I can clearly here Spirit saying, "just jump, you'll find the ground and your place in this Land."
Bright Blessings and many thanks.
Coleen
